            Patient falls contribute to a high percentage of hospital readmissions, which defeat the purpose of the Triple Aim initiative that seeks to reduce the cost per capita of healthcare. Most of the patient falls occur in the surgical and elderly patient wards, where the patients are exceptionally frail compared to patients in other wards. The frailty makes them susceptible to falls which worsen their injuries and introduce new health complications, which is all avoidable. Technology would provide a lasting solution in the reduction of these incidence, which enhances the patient health outcomes. As such, this project is about the introduction of wireless bed sensor and alert systems on patient beds, which are instrumental in preventing patient falls, or reducing the incidence of patient falls in the hospital setting.The Impact of Nursing Informatics on Patient Outcomes.

(2018) contend that the use of wireless technology in healthcare, especially in America, where 77% of the population uses smartphones, is critical in healthcare delivery and enhancement of patient health outcomes. The sensor is affected by pressure, where, if the patient leaves the bed, it detects a deduction in pressure, and notifies the nurse on her cellphone.
