Critical appraisal of peer-reviewed research marks the third stage of the evidence-based practice (EBP) process in clinical inquiry. Healthcare professionals such as nurses engage in critical appraisal of research to determine whether the evidence provided by the research is valid reliable and applicable to their patient populations.
