There are many factors and measures that may impact organizational health. Among these is civility. While an organization can institute policies designed to promote such things as civility, how can it be sure these are managed effectively? The organization scored 67 during the workplace assessment. Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory classifies workplace environments into different categories. Workplace scores ranging between 60 and 69 are classified as barely healthy (Clark, 2015). Thus, a score of 67 indicates that my workplace is barely healthy. These results are not civil due to several uncivilized and unethical organizational practices. For instance, the facility needs more appropriate professional development and career growth resources. Studies show that continuing education among nurses is essential to meet the fast-changing and diverse healthcare needs (Koskimäki et al., 2021). Thus, failure to facilitate nurses’ skill development and lifelong education lowers their work morale and compromises their capacity to provide high-quality patient care. Additionally, new nurses do not acquire the required support during their first days. As a result, these nurses are discouraged from working towards achieving the healthcare organization’s vision. One incident when I experienced incivility in the healthcare organization was when I presented complaints of unconducive working conditions to the head of the department. The manager ignored the complaint despite its impact on staff morale and commitment to providing quality healthcare services. The healthcare organization has adopted a transactional leadership style, emphasizing meeting deadlines instead of caring for people (Lai et al., 2018). Consequently, the employees’ trust was seriously threatened, reducing their dedication and commitment to the organization’s goals. For instance, most nurses were reluctant to provide timely and efficient healthcare services. As a result, a delay in care delivery and long waiting times were experienced in the department, resulting in a negative patient experience.
