Informed consent practices fell short in several areas, including inadequate staff training, consent form readability, and inconsistent use of the “teach-back method” for patient education. To address this, MMMC could implement comprehensive staff training programs on informed consent procedures, develop consent forms at a lower reading level, and encourage doctors to routinely utilize the “teach-back method” to ensure patient understanding. The hospital recorded and increased the number of cesarean sections for first-time mothers even when there were no complications. This can be achieved through enhancing reproductive health education to mothers and the importance of natural birth. There is a need to ensure the hospital performs over 50 procedures every year and every surgeon should undertake about 20 such procedures every year. In addition, (The Leapfrog Group (2022) there is a need to ensure only patients who achieve the desired criteria are taken through this procedure.

In total joint replacement, the two measures never met the required achievement. For instance, the Total knee replacement surgery measure was rated as considerable since the hospital was not did not meet the standard of 50 procedures annually. Moving forward there is a need to ensure proper protocols are put in place in ensuring total knee replacement surgery is done to only patients meeting the set criteria. Also, the surgeons must be given a chance to conduct at least 25 procedures annually to meet the required procedures. Additionally, the total hip replacement surgery measure only met a considerable achievement since it has not met the standard of 50 procedures annually. To advance from this MMMC (2022) the facility should ensure the surgeons meet the standards of conducting at least 25 procedures annually and also there is a need to put in place protocols that ensure only patients who meet the criteria are taken through this procedure.
