My Goal allied to Walden Vision and Mission

Over the last eight years, I had the pleasure of being a floor nurse.  During those years I became interested in wounds and decided I wanted to get Certified NURS – 6003N Networking Opportunities.  I got accepted into Rutgers WOC Program and graduated in December 2019.  My original goal was to become just a wound nurse.  During my WOC Program, I started to think on a bigger scale like a master’s level.  I debated over this decision now over a year and knew if I wanted a master’s level education, I needed to go back to school to obtain an Advanced degree.  I chose FNP due to it marrying well with my WOC Certification.  I needed a program that would allow me to be flexible with my schedule, so I can still be a wife, a mom, and work as a nurse full time.  That is the main reason that pulled me into Walden University is the flexibility NURS – 6003N Networking Opportunities.  It is allowing me to go at my rate of speed to obtain my education in a targeted online program.

Social Change in Nursing

I was drawn to Walden University by how they define social change.  “Walden supports positive social change through the development of principled, knowledgeable, and ethical scholar-practitioners, who are and will become civic and professional role models by advancing the betterment of society” (Walden University, 2020, para. 4).  Impacting society by caring is my reason why I started nursing NURS – 6003N Networking Opportunities.  Now I get to impact my society with an advanced degree and provide a change in my community.  I plan on giving back to my community by offering my wound care services to the less fortunate that need wound services.

Another reason why I picked Walden is their mission, which “provides a diverse community of career professionals with the opportunity to transform themselves as scholar-practitioners so that they can effect positive social change” (Walden University, 2020, para 2).  This statement embodies my nursing goal, which is a transition from nursing to advance nursing practice. NURS – 6003N Networking Opportunities With my education applied a social change in the community, my community!

Networking Opportunities

In this module, you begin laying the foundation for your academic and professional success. Your efforts begin with a vision that includes your own definition of success. Your vision may vary from those of your colleagues, but this does not mean you have to take these first steps alone.

Walden University and the College of Nursing also have a vision and mission, which include helping you to make your own vision a reality. Members of your new academic community, such as faculty, support teams, and fellow students, can also be helpful. My Goals and Walden University Vision and Mission

My professional goal is to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. By obtaining this degree I will be able to provide care at a community clinic in the area that I grew up in. According to Walden University’s vision statement, it implies that each graduate will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and possibly come up with some solutions for critical societal challenges( Walden university, 2020). Therefore, I will able to incorporate the skills that I have learned and possibly  introduce them to the people who are less fortunate. The mission statement states that Walden University provides a diverse community of career professionals with the opportunity to transform themselves as scholar-practitioners so that they can effect positive change( Walden university, 2020). Throughout this journey, my mission is to become a better nurse by building on my existing knowledge, skills, and integrative abilities. I will use my expertise to provide quality-safe care to those individuals in need.

Incorporation of Social Change

The incorporation of social change according to Walden University is directed toward promoting positive social change. This is defined as the process of creating and applying ideas, strategies, and actions to promote the worth, dignity, and development of individuals, communities, organizations, institutions, cultures, and societies( Walden university, 2020). In my future practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I have plans on being in a clinical setting where I can see and treat people from different ethnic groups. When considering my professional goals, I must have the knowledge and background of different cultures in order to render excellent care. Everyone must be treated with dignity and respect.    Walden MSN Program Outcomes and Perspectives

As I read each of the MSN program outcomes and perspectives, it allows me to gain an overall idea of what the program offers. Each outcome is important and vital to becoming a successful family nurse practitioner. The outcomes include important aspects of nursing such as critiquing evidence base research, communicating by using information technology or audience-specific, and the ability to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate cost-effective health care strategies. These are all outcomes that I’m familiar with and have incorporated throughout my nursing career. In order to become a scholarly practitioner, I must be able to utilize my past work experiences and apply with my new knowledge obtained in order to restore/promote health.
