Wearable technologies can offer significant solutions for health care issues and concerns. These technologies can be applied for maintenance of health and prevention of diseases, such as in monitoring physical activity and controlling weight. In addition, the capacity of wearable technologies to continuously monitor human behaviors and physical activities as well as biochemical and physiological parameters during daily life can also be used for disease management and patient management. In fact, the most commonly measured data using wearable technologies is body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, as well as physical activity, posture and blood oxygen saturation. The use of wearable technologies is accompanied by unique wearable application that can directly impact clinical decision making as each of the applications can provide additional clinical information. Overall, wearable technologies can act as innovative solutions for addressing health care problems. Still, there is a concern that although wearable technologies have presented much potential value for health care, their adoption into the health care industry has been very slow. Perhaps the slow rate of adoption is because of skepticism about value and cost concerns, or if this is simply the typical resistance to new technology (Tong, 2018). There is a need to understand the opinions of nurses concerning wearable technologies in order to develop the appropriate change mechanisms that would enable increased use of these technologies in managing chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and heart disease.Literature Review Essay
