When carrying out the exercise, I tried to be as honest as possible because I wanted to get a better understanding of my strengths as well as my weaknesses. Knowing this will enable me work on areas that can improve my approach in life, and influence people around me. • Core values • Responsibility and deliberative • The assessment indicates that I emotionally connect to anything I commit to and I feel compelled to follow through to completion. It states that I hate to make accuses or have my name soiled so I do everything to deliver on my promise. My obsession for doing things right is a magnet that attracts people to me because they know it will be done, but sometimes it leads to me taking on more than I can deal with (Rath, 2007). • I am a cautious person who approaches life with a certain reserve. I use caution in everything I do. I like to plan ahead of time, anticipate, and assess conditions to reduce risks. I mind the way I use my words (Rath, 2007). • Strengths • Learner and empathy • I enjoy learning new things, and excited practicing things I have learned. Learning enables me strive in different work environments, and gives me the ability to take up new assignments and projects (Rath, 2007). • I became interested in nursing when I was a little girl from watching my mother care for patients. I did not have the opportunity to attend nursing school back in my country; however, the United States gave me that opportunity. I have been in this country for 8 years and 6 of those years and counting, I have been a student. I got my ASN, BSN and now working towards my master\’s. I enjoy learning new things. At work, I am always eager to learn, and one of the first to complete my study modules. Learning gives me confidence and courage, and prepare me for challenging situations. I equally enjoy teaching, I realized back in nursing school that when I share with my friends, I retain more material. • I can feel what others are going through as if I was the one in that situation. I do not necessarily agree with other people\’s perspectives but I respect their views. I do not condone with choices people make but I try to understand them. I am proactive in meeting other\’s needs and help give voice to their emotional life (Rath, 2007). I don\’t think you can be a successful nurse without empathy. You come across people every day with so much going on in their lives. You may not necessarily agree with them about their attitudes but you try to understand with them. It takes empathy to communicate with someone who feels hopeless, in denial, or disruptive. I know I have this virtue in me, that\’s one of the reasons I choose to specialize in psychiatry. • Characteristics to strengthen • Responsibility and relator • I attach emotions to anything I commit to doing. I always try to deliver on my promise. This can be good when things are well done but very frustrating when things don\’t go as expected. I have to learn to say no at times. I hate to fail; I get very emotional when that happens. According to Tsuji (2019), if you take a challenge and make mistakes, it is proof that you have challenged for success, and the outcome will greatly depend on how you face the failure. I have to learn to look at failures as stepping stones to success rather than stumbling blocks. • I have to learn to relate to people more. A description of your core values

My perception of leadership is guided by five core values. The first value is achievement as I always gauge my leadership in terms of success and accomplishments. The second value is freedom as I seek to express myself. Although I am influenced by others, I seek to exercise my independence, freewill, liberty and autonomy in my decisions. The third value is wisdom in terms of applying intelligence, good judgement, perception, experience, discretion, insight, discipline, and intuition in the decisions made. The fourth value is stewardship as I make the use of the resources available to me by being resourceful, giving and charitable. The final value is integrity as I understand that honesty, responsibility, dependability, decency, sincerity, truthfulness, reliability, consistency, justice and commitment are important leadership qualities (Masters, 2015, pg. 366).  Leadership :Theoretical Basis for Nursing Essay.


A personal mission/vision statement

I practice as a nurse, and my mission in my professional practice is to help my patients become independent with regards to health and wellness. This mission statement indicates what I seek to achieve in the near future even as I provide professional nursing services. I want my patients to live independent lives without the need for others to help them. I seek to go beyond the traditional objective of simply providing nursing towards, towards improving the capacity of patients to go about their lives with minimal intervention (McEwen & Wills, 2018, pg. 42).


An analysis of your CliftonStrengths Assessment summarizing the results of your profile

The results of the CliftonStrengths Assessment present five themes in the personal profile. The first theme is responsibility. I feel pushed to take ownership of whatever activity I am committed to until it is completed. This makes it difficult for me to leave projects half done. The second theme is relator. I feel pulled towards the people I already know and tend to keep the persons I know very close. I value genuine relationships and can only entrust myself to those I consider genuine based on how much risk has been shared. The third them is deliberative. I am a private, vigilant and careful person who understands that there are risks with every decision. I take time to think about every step and always seek to minimize the associated risks. The fourth theme is learner. I am keen to follow the subjects that hold interest to me and enjoy the process of learning new things. This allows me to enjoy working in dynamic environments requiring input from different professions. The final theme is empathy. I am keen to the emotions of persons around me and intuitively try to see the work from the eyes of others. I try to understand the perspectives and feelings of others and try to incorporate them into shared decisions (Gallup, 2020).

A description of two key behaviors that you wish to strengthen

Having reviewed the assessment results, I have identified two behaviors that I would wish to strengthen. The first behavior is being a developer. I would like to be able to recognize and develop the potential of others. This would be good for group settings as it would allow me to assign responsibilities in areas where individuals can experience fulfilling growth. The second behavior is being connected. A development plan that explains how you plan to improve upon the two key behaviors you selected and an explanation of how you plan to achieve your personal vision.

Training and practice is needed to strengthen to two behaviors described. Training would involve going through processes that allow me to acquire these behaviors with trainers engaged to present concepts associated with the behaviors. Practice would involve using the behaviors in controlled settings so as to learn their weaknesses and continue improving (Gallup, 2017, pg. 114).
