Collaboration Approaches for Interdisciplinary Teams

Again, this section will be similar to the previous once, except that the focus will be on collaboration approaches. Depending on whether or not your interviewee’s organization uses interdisciplinary teams frequently, your focus in this section may be on how to establish interdisciplinary teams and a collaborative foundation or how to improve the collaboration within an already established teams. • The issue is the emergency room is having to hold all medical, telemetry, stepdown and ICU admits in the ER so that the staff nurses on these floors are not over worked. • It has been a great impact on my abilities to complete my duties because while we are holding so many admissions in the ER, we still have to see other new patients coming in and we’re having to triage them and see them in the hallway.

• Yes, leadership has made an effort to address these issues.

• Leadership is now calling in the supervisors to these different floors to come in and take over the care of these patients that we have in holding for them.

• The general attitude towards these issues is that they are working to fix them.

• For the most part, when it comes to patient safety, whoever is the charge nurse and the department itself, collaborate effectively together.
