A Simulation-Based Clinical Nursing Education Assignment
How Simulation In Nursing Classrooms Impact Students
Nursing education has been recognized as a significant factor in determining the effectiveness and quality of care delivery. It has become critical to effectively develop effective teaching strategies that would effectively prepare students for their roles in the healthcare setting. According to Marquette University Nursing. (2021), nurses must be prepared to meet patient needs effectively, advance science, and function as leaders for the benefit of the patient and the overall performance of the care sector and organization towards delivering safe and quality care. With various changes in the health care industry, there is an equal need to align nursing education to address the needs accordingly. Coupled with the looming nursing shortage, increasing use of technology in the health sector, nursing advocacy, demand for experience, and the ability to foster interprofessional partnerships, the need to revolutionize the nursing classroom and education setting has been critical today’s training. This paper discusses the adoption of simulation in the nursing classroom to improve safety and quality care delivery. A Simulation-Based Clinical Nursing Education Assignment
Nurse educators and relevant stakeholders in the nursing education sector must develop a curriculum by engaging learning strategies to promote confidence and knowledge needed by future nurse practitioners for a practical nursing career and the ability to address diverse needs in the healthcare industry (Sato & Kodama, 2021). Simulation is an educational process or strategy that enables learners to replicate clinical practice in safe surroundings. Increasing adoption of simulation along with other instructional strategies has significantly been found to help students’ efforts to become well-integrated and successful healthcare professionals (Stenseth et al., 2022). The adoption of simulations by nursing students has had various positive benefits, such as the ability to perform fewer medical mistakes in clinical settings and effectively develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Simulation teaching strategies can best be experienced in nursing classrooms. According to Luo et al. (2021), one of the significant barriers to effective transition from classroom to clinical practice is the lack of coordination between theory and practice. The inability to integrate practice and theory in the classroom has been identified to complicate the learning process. Using simulation helps recreate real-life scenarios into classroom settings, helping nurse students with standardized cases and helping them assimilate acquired knowledge. The adoption and utilization of simulations in nursing classrooms provide an ideal composition of a learning experience (Sun‐Yi Yang, 2021). Turning the nursing classroom into a planned experience prepares nurses to link acquired knowledge and patient demands. More so, simulation helps recreate current patient scenarios in nursing training, helping them become equipped with trending care demands and required skills to perform their duties.
Apart from acquiring a solid theoretical foundation and knowledge, another primary objective of nursing education is instilling clinical skills necessary for nurse graduates to perform and integrate them into their workforce effectively. The lack of a link between nurse training and current workplace or nursing practice demands has reduced new graduates’ effectiveness in their industry (David et al., 2022). Lack of critical thinking and decision-making skills derails nurses’ healthcare delivery hence low-quality care. This can be addressed by using simulation teaching models in classroom settings, helping nurse learners visualize their practice.
Adopting and including simulation in nursing classroom and education process would be critical for nurses to have successful careers. Further inclusion of the simulation teaching approach and others would greatly assist nursing students in becoming more integrated and prepared in their future nursing practice (Dincer & Ataman, 2020). The topic of simulation utilization in the nursing classroom provides a critical focus on revolutionizing the nursing educational needs to align them with the changing healthcare dynamics to ensure safety and quality continue to be delivered. At the same time, they are preparing nurses based on diverse personal, patient, and organizational healthcare needs. A Simulation-Based Clinical Nursing Education Assignment
To address the diverse educational needs, it provides a platform to provide necessary educational reforms and ensure nurses are effectively prepared for their future careers and work in the care sector. Reviewing the curriculum and more practice along with theoretical training helps address the nurse educators’ and learners’ diverse educational needs (Shook et al., 2021). Simulation provides educators with instant nurse evaluation, the ability to reproduce market demands skills, learners improved psychomotor skills, improved clinical decision making, and, more importantly, fostered multidisciplinary teamwork in care delivery.
